Cross-border Cooperation in Logistical Support in Crisis Situations

M
Methods

The project team will evaluate the current state of the governmental cooperation in crisis situations and identify improvable procedures in the logistical support. The logistical support provides necessary services to support the affected population and to improve rescue services or preventive measures. Therefore, the international project team designs surveys to identify potential improvements in cross-border cooperation. The target participants in this research are the heads of disaster management on a district level at the border of Austria-Germany and Germany-Poland.

B
Background

The project „Cross-border Cooperation in Logistical Support in Crisis Situations” aims to enhance collaboration and information exchange in the field of logistical support for rescue operations after natural disasters. It is funded by the German-Polish Science Foundation (DPWS) and carried out by researchers of University of Szczecin, Poland and University of Salzburg, Austria.

R
Results

The goals of the research is to compare the size and the structure of the logistical support in the district level in the different countries, to evaluate the current cross-border cooperations, to determine the impact and the efficiency of cross-border operations, and to identify areas where the cross-border operations can be improved. The output of the online surveys will be evaluated and presented at a conference at University of Szczecin and published in a book by Springer.
